How come my browser does not load the checkout page?

If you get an error page or error dialog box when you try to checkout, this is more than likely because your browser does not support 128-bit encryption.  Check that your browser supports 128-bit encryption.

Methods to check your browser's security:

1) Automatically scan your browser.

2) If your browser supports Javascripts, then one method to check if it supports 128-bit encryption is to copy-and-paste or type the following text into your location/address bar.

 javascript:alert(navigator.appVersion)

You can also click this link Check Browser Version

If the dialog box that appears says "MSIE 5.5" (Internet Explorer) or has a "U" in it (Netscape Navigator), then you have 128-bit encryption.  The "U" stands for U.S. encryption an "I" stands for International encryption, which is not as strong.

If your browser does not support 128-bit encryption, you must upgrade to a version that does.  This is the strongest method of encryption and provides the ultimate in security for your sensitive data.  If you feel this is the problem, please take a few minutes to update your Netscape browser or Internet Explorer today.

How do I apply my biocontrol agent?

Detailed handling, storage, and release instructions come with every order. If you are still concerned please email custserv@ecobugs.com or entomologist@ecobugs.com.

How do I determine what my pest problem is?

There are two ways.  You can submit an online pest identification form to our staff and they will get back to you with suggestions on solving your problem organically.  Or browse our growing list of links to helpful identification sites.

What is biocontrol?

Biocontrol is the use of beneficial organisms (either predatory, pathogenic, or parasitic) to control pests.  It is an environmentally responsible method of controlling pests.

Can I use beneficial insects and spray insecticides too?

This is possible in some cases.  For instance, we carry a strain of  Neoseiulus fallacis predatory mites that are resistant to pyrethrin.  However, our aim is organic control and therefore suggest avoiding pesticides as much as possible.  Most beneficials are compatible with herbicides and fungicides, however.

Will ladybugs fly away after I release them?

Depending on the moisture level and available food, up to 90% may leave the release site.  But those that remain eat aphids ravenously.  Misting leaves before release and providing lots of pollen producing plants in the area of release will help to keep them around.  We also suggest storing them in the refrigerator for up to three months and making smaller controlled releases directly on problem sites.  Release instructions come with every order.
